Sweet Summertime

Are you enjoying your summer?  We certainly are.  So much so that we are forgetting to update our blogs!

Here's a picture of the lake where we unwind from the daily grind:
As I am starting to think about all of the things I SHOULD be doing instead of playing around at the lake, I kind of feel guilty!  I know a cocktail or too will take care of that feeling!  Cheers!  Bottoms up!
I know when I decide to get back at it again, one of the first things we are going to do is have a flip flop sale!  Who doesn't like that!  So stay tuned, it's going to happen.  Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day soon, real soon!
Have a great day chillin'!

Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all the "Chivillians" out there!  Where are you going to be chillin' tonight with your special someone?  Who is your PURRRfect Match?

My hubby and I had plans to go out for a nice dinner as we haven't gone out on a date for quite sometime.  I'm not sure we are going to be able to have our date tonight as I started coming down with a head cold.  I'm afraid I might be a terrible date tonight when all I want to do is cuddle in on the couch with a nice soft blanket and some hot tea!!

I hope your plans for this evening are a little better than mine.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Change is coming...

On February 14, 2014 our website will be switching over to Paypal as the payment feature for all of our online transactions.  We feel this is a better option for us and for our customers given the recent data breaches by large companies that we all trusted.

We feel confident that PayPal and it's practices safeguard customers information and are up-to-date on security and internet fraud.

We hope that this will not affect your relationship with us but rather that you too will embrace Paypal and use them as a trusted source for safeguarding your personal and financial information.

A time for reflection...

At the end of every year as we reflect on our success and failures and we make "resolutions" for the coming year.  In business we do the same thing although in business they are referred to as budgets/ forecasts and goals.

After reflecting on our performance in the marketplace last year, we are focusing on what we feel we need to do in 2014.  Here's what I came up with:

1) Focus more on branding - Chivilla Bay, who are we, what do we stand for, what are we trying to do, what is our mission?

2) Sales - Evaluating our sales plan - are we in the right marketplaces, the right products, etc.?

3) Social Media (in the old days we called this advertising) - touching customers, reaching customers and gaining new customers.  How do we accomplish this?

4)  Budgets and Sales Forecasts  - Using data from previous years, cutting expenses on ventures that did not pay for themselves - such as certain e-commerce venues, advertising venues, etc.  Also, how do we grow our business.

5) Customer focused - interacting with our customers and using feedback to drive product mix, improve customer relations and loyalty and sales.

As we work through all of these I hope you will see a more consistent focus for us with our messages, products and commitment to becoming a company you grow to love and trust.

Trick or Treat?

Happy Halloween!  I made this cute broom just in time for Halloween.  I have my candy ready to go so bring on the trick or treaters!  I do enjoy halloween and I love giving out candy to the neighborhood kids.  Can't wait to see what the popular costumes are for this year.  I'm guessing there will be quite a few duck dynasty kids.

I was listening to the radio this morning and an advertisement came on about how the local kids could take their Halloween candy to this particular dentist who would give them $1.00 per pound for the candy (up to a max of $5).  The point being that they wanted kids to not eat the sugary sweets and to save their teeth, right?  Well at the end of the commercial they said this particular dentist was going to donate the Halloween candy and send it overseas to other needy children.  Hmmm....why would they send candy to other children when they don't think it is good for our own?

Years ago when I was a kid we had Halloween parties in school, went trick or treating and got homemade popcorn balls and other such things.  Now there are no more Halloween parties, no more homemade popcorn balls and candy that has to be sorted through before kids can enjoy it.  I remember my brothers and sisters coming home and dumping our candy out on the floor to count and sort all of the wonderful treats.  We'd trade candies and then hide them so they couldn't steal ours.  We had so much fun back then.  We were never worried about BAD candy or too much candy for that matter.  We always ate in moderation and brushed our teeth before bed.  I think we turned out alright.

May you all have a Happy Halloween and remember to brush your teeth tonight!
